Heroing FOW 1 player
I don't play much nowadays but drop in try fow or do some of the newer content with heros. I finally finished fow well I wiped while running the gryphs but that was me not paying attention after almost 3 hours. There's probably quite a few ways to do fow with heros, but this build is kinda fun and too hard for me to manage.
I use the 2 Rit heros and a RoJ monk with my roj mm pve necro. Replaced a discord nec with a roj nec and now a Roj monk. When it's going good I'm just blowing stuff up. Undead are only a problem if I don't set up right/wait for full recharge. Dragons are no problem. I try to avoid anything with more than 2 monks.
Sorry don't know how to do the skills thing and points include runes.

Since I can't AP, I have to wait for recharge, but that extra ROJ seems to help. I could swap out one of the minions or bane sig.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me what my build is lacking or if I should replace skills or characters with something else. Also wanted to run an AP ranger with these heros, but it seems more pain than it's worth.
Edit: Didnt use cons. Did use a summon in the Burning Forest.
Thanks!

Have you tried replacing your ROJ hero with a PI mesmer hero?

i went with roj mostly to handle the undead and it works well with other bads. i just finished it with this build... 2 hours 40 mins. not fast by any means and almost wiped a couple of times. but it's my 1st full run with heros. if i switch to a mesmer hero, what else would need changing? the monk prots a little and mows down stuff pretty good. was even able to deal with a 3rd monk this time.

Does ROJ makes foes scatter in NM like it does in HM?

Deep freeze, YMLAD, and even EVAS seems to lock them up long enough to kill that 1st monk. After that, there usually isnt too many problems as long as you space yourself from the the heros so that you or the monk hero can get away.
With undead, I lay out spirits and pull heros behind them. Wait for the wars to engage or hit their healers/backline with RoJ depending on spacing. The wars dont usually scatter on initial engagement. Sometimes get 2 or almost all 3 with that 1st roj.
Evas or YMLAD on bonds and ROJ.
With Shadow army monks I EVAS ROJ YMLAD. If the spirits are in place, monks usually goes down right away. Then I pick em off and let the spirits do their thing. Sometimes he gets healed and I do it all over again. It works best if the monks are group cuz they cant heal themselves and everyone else fast enough.
Sometimes I don't set up spirits like with the monk mesmer mobs in the citadel. Just start nuking and they start laying spirits etc. I mostly need to set spirits 1st against the undead and in burning forest. Kill nukers 1st then healers in forest depending on spacing and what you have available.
Probably done with this build unless there is a way to speed it up. 2.5 hours+ = too long. This would probably work better with a monk player and nec or monk hero. Spiritway and RoJ has broken up my discord team lol.
It was kinda fun in that you can micro the spirits and heros roj if you want to. But even if you dont, you are almost always making a minion or using a some skill and it's not always 1, 2, 3...

You already have RoJ on your character and PI helps to keep foes on their butts so you can RoJ them better. Mesmers already have good damage mitigation.

If I ditch my monk, I won't have PS or Aegis or I'll have to get rid of minions and my build will be gimped. Will the mesmer help me mow down stuff fast enough that I won't miss the extra defense?

You can fit PS and Aegis into your own monk or into the mesmer (make sure if you have good energy management skills on her bar if you do so).
I find that heroes are most susceptible to AoE attacks because they have the tendency to clump together. Even if you flag them, they are quite stupid, they run out and sometimes run back into AoE. The effectiveness of the mesmer damage mitigation is in preventing these AoE attacks from firing off in the first place.

Meh so far it's slower. Might be playing style. Does really well with shadows. Not as well with undead. Lagged and wiped heading into the burning forest so not sure how it will work there or against those dragons. Might run it again, but don't really care for it so far.
I left my 2 rits.
Copied a hero PI build I saw on wiki and added rebirth.

Imo PI on a hero is just bad. They don't use it properly.

Agreed 100%. Forget the PI Mes. If you want to micro PI that's fine but I don't see the point in going through so much more trouble for such a minute change. Switching an Elite that does damage (double for undead) for an Elite that can't be used properly by heroes doesn't sound all that appealing no matter how you sugar coat it.

If I managed to do FoW without any real difficulties afew months ago with discord as a spirit spammer then I'm sure now that you could do it with any number of superior build combinations.
The biggest trip ups to me anyway are related to the weak npcs.
